You can invite Sx Live to any server that you have the **Manage Server** permission in.
{% endhint %}

1. Go to [sxlivebot.com/invite](https://discord.com/oauth2/authorize?client_id=540349742178107409\&permissions=268946504\&response_type=code\&redirect_uri=https%3A%2F%2Fsxlivebot.com%2Fwelcome%3Fsource%3Dwebsite\&scope=bot%20applications.commands).
2. You should a Discord prompt, asking you to add the bot to a server.
   * Select your server name in the dropdown, and click **Continue**.

# Frequently Asked Questions

## What is Sx Live?

[Sx Live](https://sxlivebot.com) is a bot for [Discord](https://discord.com) designed for Kick, Twitch, and YouTube streamers and their communities.

## How do I automatically let people in Discord know when I go live on Kick?

You can set up a [stream notification](https://docs.sxlivebot.com/live-stream-notifications/setup-kick-alerts) to automatically notify your Discord community when you go live on Kick.

## Sx Live isn't sending announcements/notifications or giving the live role for Twitch and YouTube

In order for the notifications to work properly and to receive the live role for Twitch and YouTube, the user **must have** the purple streaming status on Discord.

To get the purple streaming status, a user **must**:

* Enable [streamer mode](/live-stream-notifications/setup-twitch-youtube-notifications) on Discord
* Have their Twitch or YouTube account linked to their Discord account

The following cases can also cause problems with the live role:

* The user is streaming on a console or a phone
  * Manually enable streamer mode and keep Discord open on a desktop or laptop device.

{% hint style="info" %}
To know if streamer mode is on and working, you should see the purple streaming icon next to the user's avatar. It can take up to 30 seconds for this to appear after a stream starts.
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/iSJyzp4NDv5067WQ1ebR" alt=""><figcaption><p>Streaming Status</p></figcaption></figure>

## What is the difference between Sx Live and Sx Bot

Sx Live will automatically detect anyone who is live on Twitch or YouTube based on their streaming status ( The little purple icon next to your avatar). For the notifications to work properly, the user **must have** Streamer Mode enabled, which requires them to connect and integrate their Twitch or YouTube account to Discord in the user settings. Streamer mode is not required for kick notifications.

Sx Bot allows you add twitch streamers directly by their channel names, and does not require streamer mode. You can [add the bot](https://invite.sxbot.io) and use **`/twitch streamers add`**

**Which option should you choose?**

If you want users detected automatically by a whitelisted role when they go live, Sx Live is the better option, but **does require** streamer mode. On the other hand, if only have several streamers you want to add or don't want to use streamer mode, you might be better adding them with [Sx Bot](https://invite.sxbot.io).

Feel free to test out both and see what works best for you. You can also use both bots to combine different features and such.

{% hint style="info" %}
Purchasing a [premium](https://patreon.com/sxbot) subscription for Sx Live also gives you full premium access to our other multi-purpose bot [Sx Bot](https://invite.sxbot.io) which has many additional features such as boost tracking, invite tracking, logging, utilities, and more.
{% endhint %}

## Why aren't the notifications showing up?

The first step is to make sure you have set the notifications channel and added a streamer. \
**For example:** **`+kickchannel show` or `+kickstreamers show`**

If both of these are correctly set, you want to make sure that the bot has permissions to send messages to your stream channel. The permissions the bot requires to send the notifications are: **View Channel, Send Messages, and Embed Links.**

If the bot has the proper permissions and the notifications are still not working correctly. Please join our [support server](https://discord.gg/FxwmDT83qY) and speak to a bot specialist.

## Why is the live role not working?

The first step is to make sure you have set the live role\
**Example:** **`+tliverole show` or `+ytliverole show`**

If the live role is showing as correctly set, the next step is to make sure Sx Live has **Manage Roles** permissions and it's highest role is above the live role you set The bot is not able to give/remove roles if the role is above it's highest role in the hierarchy.

If using the live role or Twitch or YouTube, make sure streamer mode is enabled and the purple streaming status icon is showing next to users avatar. For Kick, make sure you have successfully linked the Discord user to the kick streamer. To check all the active connections use **`+kickliverole list`**

If the bot has the proper permissions and the live role is still not working correctly. Please join our [support server](https://support.sxlivebot.com) and speak to a bot specialist.

## What permissions are required for the notifications?

The bot only requires 3 permissions to send notifications. **View Channel, Send Messages, and Embed Links.** If the bot has this permissions and the notifications are still not sending, you might need to go into the channel specific permissions and add **Sx Live** and give these 3 permissions for the notifications channel.

{STREAMER} = Twitch Username\
{USER} = Discord Username \
{MENTION} = Discord Mention\
{TITLE} = Stream Title\
{GAME} = Game Name \
{URL} = Twitch URL\
{EVERYONE} = Mention @everyone \
{HERE} = Mention @here
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="success" %}
All done! The notifications are setup.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}

# Introduction to Live Role

## What is live role?

Live Role allows you to promote streamers in your server by allowing them to receive an automatic role that gets added when someone streams on Twitch. We currently support the following two ways:

**Option 1)** Sx Live will detect their purple "streaming" status and add the configured role when they begin their stream. When they lose the streaming status, Sx Live will remove the live role.

{% hint style="info" %}
This option is better if you want everyone or a large amount of streamers in your server to receive the live role. This also requires them to connect their Twitch account to Discord, and use OBS. If you prefer this option, you will need to add our live bot called [Sx Live](https://discord.com/oauth2/authorize?client_id=540349742178107409\&permissions=268946536\&scope=bot). You can invite the bot [here](https://discord.com/oauth2/authorize?client_id=540349742178107409\&permissions=268946536\&scope=bot).
{% endhint %}

**Option 2)** You will connect individual Discord members to a twitch streamer, and Sx Bot will give the configured role when they begin their stream, and remove it when the stream is over.

{% hint style="info" %}
This option is better if you only have a few streamers who should receive the live role, they stream on mobile, or they don't have their Twitch account connected to Discord. For this option, you can use Sx Bot directly by using the commands:**`/twitch live-role set`**`and`**`/twitch discord-member connect`**
{% endhint %}
